Friday 28th February saw explosive demolition of Kingda Ka, the world’s tallest roller coaster when operating.
The ride located at Six Flags Great Adventure was shut without any fanfare at the end of the 2024 season after operating since 2005. The Intamin Accelerator Coaster stood an incredible 456-feet tall. You can watch a sensational video of the main tower being exploded below. Other parts of the attraction such as the station and bunny hop had already been removed.
WHAT WILL REPLACE KINGDA KA?
Six Flags have promised a “multi-record-breaking launch coaster” as the true replacement to Kingda Ka in 2026. No specifrics around this have yet been revealed, but it is expected to be manufactured by Mack and contain spinning elements. Before that we get the welcome, but admittedly less exciting, The Flash: Vertical Velocity in 2025.
